 | | When I did a reconditioning job on a 2nd hand washing machine,
including a full strip down, removal of drum from machine,
& removal of inner rotating drum from outer static drum,
(to re-grease bearings & re red lead paint drum inside etc)
I discovered the giant (about a yard diameter) front was held
to the drum by one enormous jubilee type clip, (curved to fit
round rim) - That front disc (with hole to put washing through)
was filled with concrete to counter balance the motor at the
back - If you ever take off that yard sized disc, it comes down
to about one tenth inch of metal, which, concrete filled, would
do mighty damage if it dropped on any part of a human. A bit of
thought & care is always good: there's some mighty big
springs & weights in washing machines, (plus of course
power to make sure is Off.) | |
